This section explains how to migrate OfficeClip from version 6.9.9
to 7.x
Prerequisites
You must have 6.9.9 installed on your machine. The
machine should have enough space to install version 7.x (please see
the system requirements
in the OfficeClip Download
Page)
Migration Instructions
Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and look for
OfficeClip 7.x version installation. If you find version 7.0.3 or
higher, skip to step 5 otherwise if you find version 7.0.2, 7.0.1
or 7.0.0 remove it (To see the exact version Click on the support
information link of the program in the Add/Remove program
window)
Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Software and look and for
Microsoft Sql Server Express. If found, click on Remove. Now look
for any instance called OfficeClip (keep OFFICECLIP7 if it exists)
and remove it. Note: Cancel out if you do not find the OFFICECLIP
instance there.
Remove all files in folder c:\program
files\officeclip\7\* (if found).
Run c:\program
files\officeclip\7\OfficeClip.Install.OcDbUpgrader.exe.
It should do everything for you. Please be patient as this may
take a long time. If the operation is unsuccessful, please see
below under heading Error Handling.
Run iisreset from the command prompt.
Log into OfficeClip 7.x with the same login as in the old
OfficeClip 6.9.9 version. if you cannot login, it will take you to
a license request screen. Go ahead and request a new license and
then follow the instructions on the screen (note that you will now
need to copy the downloaded license file in the old officeclip
upload folder c:\program
files\officeclip\officeclip\upload)
Go to Setup (toolbar) -> Manage Site Privileges and
Application -> Manage Site Application Access and make sure that
the applications you need are enabled.
Go to Setup (toolbar) -> Manage Organization Roles and
Privilege -> Manage Organization Privileges and make sure that
your organization has access to all applications.
Test some functions and make sure all the previous data is
restored and all the screens are working correctly.
Remove OfficeClip 6.9.9
This operation should be done only after you have successfully
migrated your software to 7.x version. It will not be possible to
recover the old version after this operation.
Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and remove
OfficeClip 6.9.9
Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and remove
Microsoft SQL Server desktop Engine (OFFICECLIP)
Now back up the files in c:\program
files\officeclip\data folder and remove them. Note that if you
were using Sql Server 2000, then you do not have to do steps 2 and
3.
Reverting back to OfficeClip 6.9.9
If the migration fails you may want to get back to your existing
OfficeClip 6.9.9 version.
Go to Control Panel -> Administrator Tools -> Internet
Services Manager and expand your machine name from the left. Next
expand "Default Web Site" on the left.
Locate OfficeClip and click the right mouse button on it and
select properties
Change the local path to C:\Program
Files\OfficeClip\OfficeClip.
Click on the ASP.NET tab and change the ASP.NET version to
1.1
Now you will be able to use the old officeclip from the old url
http://machine-name/officeclip/indexen.html. Also note
that if you changed any information after reverting back to old
officeclip, you will have to repeat the "Migration Instructions"
given above if you want to move to 7.x again.
Error Handling
The migration program can give errors when executing. In this case
follow the instructions below:
Locate the log file in the c:\program
files\officeclip\7\log folder. These files are named by date
and time so you should be able to find it easily. These are html
files so you can see them easily on the browser.
If you find something obvious you can fix, go ahead and do it
and then start from Step 5 of "Migration Instructions" above. if
not please zip the file, and send to OfficeClip.
