Control Privileges for various application features
Quote from SK Dutta on September 2, 2022, 9:25 amIn OfficeClip you can create various roles and provide privileges to those roles. Privileges controls what functions are accessible to each role.
There are two fixed privileges in the system that are created with your organization:
- Administrator
- All Members
By default Administrator have full permission on everything and it cannot be controlled. Additional roles can be created and users assigned to those roles.
Creating a new role overrides privileges of All Members Role:
When you create a new role, the members of the new role will initially inherit permission of the All Member role, but then they can be overridden by modifying them.
Roles are Restrictive:
For example suppose you have created two role called Sales Manager and Marketing Manager have added user John to those role. Now, suppose the following privileges are given:
- Marketing Manager cannot access the Edit Contact
- Sales Manager role can access the Edit Contact
Because of the restrictive permission, John will NOT be able to access the Edit Contact. So in order to let John access the Edit Contact, you must enable Marketing Manager for Edit Contact.
This may seem counter-intuitive at first, but this way it is easier to restrict access rather than provide access to a certain function in OfficeClip.
In order to control the role permission, do the following:
- Log in as Administrator
- Click on Settings on toolbar button
- Click Organization settings > Privileges > Manage Roles
- For a certain role, you can click on the Edit role privileges icon
- On this screen you can control the permissions for a particular role
